Chocolate Mousse Brownies

  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the melted butter, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs and whisk until fully incorporated.
  4. Combine the cocoa powder, flour, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a rubber spatula.
  6. Bake the brownie batter in the prepared pan for 25-30 minutes.
  7. Prepare the mousse by heating heavy cream until simmering, then pour over chopped chocolate.
  8. Whisk the chocolate and cream until smooth, then stir in powdered sugar.
  9. Chill the mousse for about 30 minutes.
  10. Assemble the mousse layer on top of the cooled brownies and chill again for at least an hour.
