Homemade Pizza Dough

An easy and versatile recipe for making homemade pizza dough, perfect for family pizza nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir lightly and let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  3. Combine wet and dry: Create a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.
  4. Knead the dough: Dust your countertop and transfer the dough. Knead for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let it rise: Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  6. Preheat your oven: About 30 minutes before baking, preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  7. Shape your pizza: Punch down the risen dough and divide if making two pizzas. Roll out to desired thickness.
  8. Top and bake: Add your favorite toppings and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

For a unique flavor, try adding Italian seasoning or using whole wheat flour. Leftover dough can be frozen for later use.
