Japanese Fruit Sandwich (フルーツサンド)

A delightful Japanese treat featuring vibrant strawberries, luscious whipped cream, and soft bread, perfect for a light snack or dessert.

  • 4 slices of soft white bread or shokupan (Japanese milk bread)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 ½ tablespoons sugar
  • 14 strawberries, fresh and ripe

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberries by washing and hulling them. Halve them if large.
  2. Make the whipped cream by combining heavy whipping cream and sugar, then whipping until soft peaks form.
  3. Assemble the sandwiches by spreading whipped cream on one slice, adding strawberries, topping with more cream, and placing another slice on top.
  4. Slice the sandwiches into quarters or halves and serve with a dusting of powdered sugar.

Notes

Consider adding a splash of vanilla extract to the whipped cream for extra flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a day.
