Lemon-Basil Spaghetti

A zesty and fresh spaghetti dish combining vibrant lemon and aromatic basil, perfect for both weeknight dinners and special gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 lb (250g) spaghetti
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 4 oz (120g) cherry tomatoes (quartered)

Instructions

  1. Boil the Pasta: Start by filling a large pot with water, bringing it to a boil over high heat. Add a generous pinch of salt. Once it’s bubbling, add in your spaghetti. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente—you want it to have a slight bite!
  2. Prepare the Lemon-Basil Sauce: While your pasta is cooking, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Combine Pasta and Sauce: Drain your pasta and immediately add it to the bowl with your lemon dressing. Toss well to coat the spaghetti evenly.
  4. Add the Cheese and Herbs: Stir in the grated Parmesan, fresh basil, and zest of one lemon.
  5. Incorporate the Cherry Tomatoes: Gently fold in the quartered cherry tomatoes.
  6. Taste and Adjust: Before serving, sample your pasta. Adjust it with more salt, lemon juice, or cheese if needed.

Notes

For added flavor, consider experimenting with red pepper flakes or garlic. This dish is highly adaptable; feel free to include grilled protein or seasonal vegetables.
