Patriotic Crinkle Cookies

Delightful and colorful cookies perfect for celebrating patriotic holidays with a fun twist.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Red gel food coloring
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl and set aside.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Incorporate the dry mixture to the butter mixture until just combined.
  6. Divide the dough into three bowls, coloring one red, one blue, and leaving one plain.
  7. Form balls of dough, about 1 tablespoon each, and roll in powdered sugar.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges.
  9. Cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For variations, consider adding chocolate chips or nuts. The dough can be frozen for later use.
