Nectarine Bread

A delightful homemade Nectarine Bread bursting with juicy pieces of nectarines and warm aromas of cinnamon.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup diced nectarines
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, buttermilk, and eggs until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry mixes, folding gently to combine without overmixing.
  5. Add diced nectarines and gently fold until evenly distributed.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for about 55-65 minutes, checking doneness with a toothpick.
  7. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. Drizzle glaze: Mix powdered sugar with milk to a drizzling consistency, then glaze the cooled loaf.

Notes

Can be served warm with butter or paired with tea or coffee.
