Perfectly Flaky Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 100g sliced ham
  • 100g shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg (beaten for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: fresh herbs (like thyme or parsley)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Cut the pastry into squares or rectangles, approximately 10cm (4 inches) in size.
  4. Add a slice of ham and a sprinkle of cheddar cheese onto each square.
  5. Fold the pastry over to enclose the filling and seal the edges.
  6. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  7. Season with salt and pepper, then bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

These pastries can be made ahead of time and frozen before baking. Bake from frozen, adjusting the time as needed.
